MacSpeech Dictate

MacSpeech Dictate - The Future of Speech Recognition MacSpeech

MacSpeech - Articles - Press Releases - MacSpeech Dictate now available with high-end microphones directly from MacSpeec: "MacSpeech Dictate is a new speech recognition product for the Macintosh, with underlying speech recognition powered by the dictation technology used in Dragon® NaturallySpeaking® from Nuance Communications, Inc. MacSpeech Dictate delivers a truly Mac user experience, and conforms to behaviors already familiar to Macintosh fans worldwide. Beyond dictation, MacSpeech Dictate lets people perform basic navigation of their Mac and control it with their voice to launch applications, open new windows, execute menu commands, etc."

MacSpeech from Dragon -- really? « MacSpeech Forums and Discussion: "I think I must be missing something. I bought MacSpeech Dictate believing it to be a Mac version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred, which I have used for years. So where are all the sophisticated features? Perhaps I have not looked hard enough because I can't find lots of things -- commands -- training features and so on.
As it is the version I have got appears to be primitive to the point of being neolithic!
Having said that the accuracy of the basic recognition is excellent.
Can anyone steer me in the direction of stuff I have missed?"

I truly feel that this is a pre-release of an otherwise professional product on the windows side. It should have been a "give away" to the general Apple public to inspire interest in speech capability for Mac OS. To not include correction capability at the onset of release is silly at best. To use Apple users as guinea pigs while awaiting a professional edition is to assume that some of us Mac users who have used Dragon don't know any better.

broken connections

alwaysBETA » The Tale of the Mechanical Virus: "The problem I discovered was that one of the thin walls between the holes had broken and bent down, forming a ramp. When I plugged the DVI adapter into my computer, two of the pins went into the same hole, and the projector could no longer understand the output from my computer.

However, it doesn’t end there. When I plugged the DVI adapter into the broken socket, the ramp formed by the broken wall bent the corresponding pin upwards, forming a wedge with the adjacent pin. Then, when any other Mac user plugged the same adapter into their own computer, the pin wedge would press down on that same socket wall, breaking it and bending it down in the same fashion."

Useful Mac Software: "The article represents the most popular and useful Mac OS X programs, applications and utilities. I expect you will find something useful for yourself."
